Forser was born 1879 in Marylebone, Middlesex, England. Forster was raised in a middle-class family at 6 Melcombe Place, Dorset Square, London. He inherited a fortune from a great aunt, Marianne Thornton, which gave him the means to become a writer.
The theatre at the school he attended, Tonbridge School in Kent, was named after him in his honour.
Today Marylebone is an affluent inner-city suburb of London.
There are a number of notable landmarks such as St. Georges Hall and Marylebone Gardens.
